Havin' a little knit

A very short post but I do feel I have neglected my blog of late, so I think it is about time I got my arse in gear and posted something! So here goes...

I have spent many an hour in the depths of countless vintage shops trying... and failing to find the perfect jumper/cardigan which is the perfect shape, colour, pattern, et cetera et cetera... So, I have taken matters into my own hands and decided to teach myself to knit. I must admit I am by no means perfect, but as they say practice makes perfect!

This cardi is fab and I am loving the model's hair!

By some stroke of luck my Mum was clearing out my Grandpa's cupboards and found my Grandma's knitting patterns, well... what better oppotunity for me to improve my knitting skills and to expand my wardrobe?

Everyone needs a beret in their life.

I will keep you posted on my knitting adventures but don't wait up i am the knitting equivilant of a geriatric snail through treacle.

A Marbling Mess

Ok so this post is a tad more arty than the last but I am really excited about it and had a despirate need to share. I found this goregeous 70s boheman style dress created by the costume designer Bill Gibb. Although you can't really see it in the picture (I struggled to find any of the detail) the fabric was inspired by paper marbling and you will just have to trust me when I say... it is stunning!
This dress really inspired me to have a little experiment with some ink and water. If you have never seen ink droplets in water, they spread into the most delicate etherial forms and are just mesmirising. I made a little video of this, i'll admit the music isn't very 70s but still I think it works well :)

The Blog Prince

Well hello there! So... this is my first ever blog post (and I am a tad apprehensive). I'll admit I have had this blog for a while, but I've been waiting for some little nugget of inspiration to get me to actually write something, so ...*poof* here it is. At the beginning of the year I set my self the rather odd task of watching all the animated Disney films, so naturally I started with the princess ones (I'll admit  I'm a bit of a girly-girl). Traditional animated films have always really fascinated me, whilst having a little nosey round the interwebs I found my way to a gold mine, in the form of....the original drawing models for the princesses. I have to say my inner 4 year old came out and for a minute the main ambition in life was to be a Disney Princess, start singing to tiny woodland creatures, marry a handsome Prince and live happily ever after in a giant pink palace. These photos have given me a whole arsenal of new outfit and hair ideas that I am just itching to try.

The Fabulous Helene Stanley inspiration for Princess Aurora in Disney's Sleeping Beauty and also Cinderella.

Adriana Caselotti who was the gorgeous inspiration for Snow White

I do hope that this post has been interesting, inspiring... hopefully not dull :).
